I just don't get why itachi had to chose such rogue path, he should have killed that old geezer danzo first only when he killed our Shisui.
And should have informed every truth of "what happened to Shisu" to Fugaku and Lord Third (Herozan) and they would take best measures to prevent further chaos and battles.

Can somebody explain me why Itachi had to chose only the elimination of the whole Uchiha Clan.

Danzig wasn’t the problem, it was the clan, itachi had a choice to align with the clan or the leaf, he chose the leaf, which meant the uchiha who were going to harm the leaf had to die

Just tell the Hokage that you completely disagree with their decisions about the Uchiha clan and state your conditions.
